The shearwater 17 or AH would be pretty fast and real fun to paddle when not racing as well. If you only paddle 2 hours at a time once a week you might need to spend more time on the water...I would love to try a long distance thing but after doing some full day outings in wind and waves I know that exhaustion does eventually set in whatever the conditions. Differences in speed have lots to do with the paddler and it clearly is not all strength and conditioning as well...
