bungee has been used but they should be taught from having your feet upon the pads. you only push on then slightly to turn the rudder then you even them back out again after the turning, rarely do you keep it turned unless in miserable winds. but theer are a great deal of different rudders out there, Winderness systems uses bungee to correct positioning and the Sealine rudder is too fancy for my tastes although cool in idea, CLC's deal is fine ...unless a double forget the rudder and get a J-lean and solid bracing
