This can happen without styrofoam being involved. MAS epoxies won't heat up as much when doing end pours so you don't have the expansion problem as much. System 3 gets hot and has quite a bit of expansion. My guess is you used the latter. I do my endpours in two steps if using System 3, or don't fill the void and see how much expansion will fill the whole thing in.
