Hybrid Deck Consruction

I am planning on a deck design similar to the aft portion of Steph's design recently posted to the Shearwater Hybrid page on the CLC site . Several solid strips around the perimeter then a geometric patern with small pieces which will occupy a four strip width of the deck . It doesn't hit me as practical to try and glue up these small pieces as they are being installed on the boat . Does it make sense to cut up the pieces and dry fit them on a workbench then glue up each strip while still on the workbench lastly install each full length strip to the boat itself . Only potential problem would be establishing the pattern on a flat surface then installing on a curved surface . Any thoughts from the Strippers in Kayk land ?
