Painting Annapolis Wherry

I am considering building an Annapolis Wherry. I am interested in keeping it natural finish inside and out (no paint) and notice all pics show it painted on the outside, and natural on the inside. Interested in anyone with experience with Lapstich contruction. Does it require paint to conceal holes on the exterior? The interior pics look great in a natural finish. Wondering if there is a diff from inside to outside with Lapstich construction? Thanks in advance for your assistance.
