sand it to a dull

Posted by Charlie Jones on Dec 27, 2006

non- glossy finish, with no shiny spots, using about 150 grit. No need whatsoever to go finer than that for paint. None.

But you do need to be sure you get rid of shiny epoxy- the paint won't stick to that, but it WILL stick tenaciously to well sanded cured epoxy.

Sand it well, lay on a thin coat of paint as a prime coat, fill any glaring flaws with acrylic auto body filler from 3M, sand that, again with 150, and lay on a second coat. If you are careful, that should do it just fine.
