new stroke?

Goofing about with a Greenland paddle on the lake last night, I found another way to get more out of a foward stroke. I found that if I rotated the blade slightly so that the outside edge of the blade was more aft, the paddle finished further out from the kayak, so then I tried resisiting this action by pulling in slightly and found a pleasant propeller effect! The kayak immediately picked up speed. The entries and exits of the paddle were also far smoother with less splash. Is this a new stroke or the reinvention of the wheel?
