plywood surfboard
Posted by landlocked on Oct 30, 2006
Hi guys, a little off topic for this site but I thought I would give it a try. I've been thinking about building a hollow wooden surfboard, using marine ply to make a keel and rib system and then using ply for the top and bottom. My question is whether the plywood would be strong enough to handle someone standing on top of it. The ribs will be spaced 8" apart, so the largest open space would be about 8" x 10". I'm thinking about using 6mm okume glassed with 6 oz. cloth. Think it will hold? Thanks for the help!!
