If a few of the epoxy runs really bother you, they come off fairly easily with a carbide scraper or a sharp block plane.

The carbide scraper will run you 10 or 15 bucks, but it never goes dull and when it does :-)you can replace the blade. It is a nice tool to have around anyway because there is no scraper like it in the world.

The block plane will need to be re-sharpened frequently, but

you may already have it; and

it is easier to use on a flat or convex surface; and

sharpening a plane iron is relaxing and enjoyable to some.
