I've run into working with bamboo in the realm of primitive archery. I've never worked with it personally, because it's more dificult to work with than hardwoods.

They cut slats from large enough pieces of bamboo that the 2" wide backing has as large of radius as possible. Then they plane the other side flat.

As I understand, regular wood glue doesn't have much hold to bamboo, so it's usually epoxied on. And even then, it's usually planed with a toothing plane so that the surface is striated and holds the glue joint better.

I wonder how you'd glue the strip to strip joints in building a bamboo strip built.
