Cab-o-sil & resins

I want to thicken some Polyester resin to fill in a vertical area on a sailboat's fiberglass hull, hurricane damage. I know that adding more catalyst will make the resin go off more quickly, but it will run out of the area before it can set. Can the resin be thickened with Cab-O-SIl or wood flour? I've got plenty left over from 2 other CLC projects.
