Pour vs dam vs wood block
Posted by Mike Hanks on Sep 26, 2006
Better yet, cut a wood (cedar) wedge and epoxy it into the stem. This is lighter than epoxy, and less likely to leak. I have a friend who tested an "end-pour" actually just a pour into a cup. He cut it in half only to find cracks. These cracks can lead to leaks. Many builders are using the end-block meathod now to avoid this problem and help lighten the kayak.
