For what it's worth, I prefer Interlux because it smells more like real varnish and brings back childhood memories of helping my dad varnish the boat. The epifanes smells more like chemicals than varnish.

For application on large flat surfaces I use the foam roller and tip it off with foam brush. Just don't put it on too thick.
