Most people also put foam on the hip braces. I have found with a 3" carved foam seat I do not need hip braces and I roll all the time. I screw up into the coaming spacer stack to attach the seat band webbing. It is important to get a full surface bond with the foam to avoid trapped water and the associated black ick. Do not glue the seat down until you have confirmed its location in a crosswind and in quatering seas. You will want to move it some to trim the kayak (back to reduce weathercocking). I use 3M Super 77 spray adhesive to attach foam. It is just so easy to use and is stronger than the foam.
