I used clear epoxy, but, as was already mentioned, you'll be surprised how much gets sucked into the hole. I made my shearclamps from pine so maybe it's a bit more porous and it required a bit more epoxy than I had planned. I also shot some clear silcone into all the new holes before installing the rigging screws.
