Queries about bamboo in boats keep coming up. If my memory serves me split bamboo is hard to work because of the nodes and some other things. And it's propensity for rot makes it unsuitable even in the round. Also, there isn't any plain old bamboo. This stuff comes from a large family of similar plants so generalizing about it won't get you much.
