I cured an exceedingly similar problem on my Outer Island by ignoring it. Hey, it ain't often you get away with that aproach, why not take advantage of it? Besides, the gasket material will mash down in time, and I'm sure your hatch covers will settle in nicely, eventually.

I can never unnerstand how some folks can tarry 'round the shop forever frettin' over little tiny things like this while the water's lappin' at the shore the whole time. But then, I gotta admit that y'all come up with prettier boats than I do...
