Why such a kludgey way of assembling the top & bottom? Seems like something that should get engineered out during the transition from one-off prototype to production kit.

Maybe there can be an optional shear clamp kit to avoid the monkeyshines? I know I'd be willing to trade a pound or so of weight to avoid working through the hatch (I'm a boatbuilder, Jim, not a laproscopist!).
