Re: Magnets

Hi,
The magnets arrived yesterday... Very strong indeed... Plenty strong enough to act as paddle keepers... I'm going to imbed them in the deck of the kayak and keep them separated from each other by roughly 3/32". (One magnet will be in the deck and one will be attached to the paddle.) Any thoughts on how to glue a magnet onto an aluminum paddle? I checked this out before I started (obviously), and found some info on using epoxy to "wet sand" the aluminum in order to create a good bond. I've also contacted two large adhesive manufactures to see what they have to say about the matter... If I have to, I can make this a purely mechanical connection, but I'm hoping to avoid that end...
Thoughts?
