I carry, in addition to more permanent fixes, a partial roll of TYVEK tape. This can be found at the Home Depot, Lowe's or almost any building materials supplier. TYVEK tape has an acrylic adhesive and is not cloth based. TOTALLY waterproof- apply to NON-PORUS DRY surfaces. It leaves a heck of a residue that can be removed w/mineral spirits. I used this fix in Lake Superior while paddling around Isle Royale after a minor incident.
