Re: Have I built a sub?

At 6-0 and 250lb I am 30 pounds over the recommended paddler weight for my WR18 and the waterline midships is at the bottom of the shear panel as I would expect being close to the max rated total load all the time.
The first time I paddled the boat it did seem a bit tender due to the CG being a little high, but it didn't take very long to get used to and it is far and away the fastest 'yak I've paddled - even loaded.
Bottom line is that larger paddlers can make any boat they can fit into work, but not as well as a properly matched boat. So I can stay with the loaded WR18, build a CH 18, or reduce the weight of the paddler.
