I car topped two MC13's from Fort Worth Texas to Jacksonville FL then down to Key West and back on a Nissan Sentra. It was like a 3500 mile trip. I used some Sirrus racks (standard bars) then added some 2x4X6 on the bars front to back. Then I added a cross 2x4 at the front and back, basically making a 2x4 box. This extended the support area from less than 28 inches to 6 feet. Not once, in all those miles did my yaks even think about moving. I did use bow and stern lines. My brother and I debated for several hundred miles about the need for the lines, mainly to drive my dad crazy.
