Shipping SailRig

A few years ago, I built the CLC SailRig. I am now giving it to a friend who lives in Maine as I have consequently built a CLC Skerry. I live in the DC Area and, ideally, would like to ship the various parts of the Rig (akas, amas and mast) all fully assembled but the mast which can be broken down, to Maine. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good alternative for shipping such a nontraditional item? The akas and amas are about 10 feet long and the whole thing is probably about 50 pounds or so. It would need to be shipped with some kind of protective covering as it is somewhat fragile.
