I haven't had much trouble with epoxy that gets wet, as long as it was an hour or so into the cure.

What you'll end up with is a prominent white film on the cured surface. The film is always confined to the surface of the epoxy coating and will disappear when sanded. There'll be "blush" and all manner of contaminants on the surface, so a thorough cleaning with denatured alcohol is indicated after sanding and before any subsequent coating.
