Re: Insurance?

Although I don't have any insurance on my CLC kayaks, I do have it for my 16' runabout I built from plans with a 50 hp Honda outboard. BoatUS was very happy to insure it for the cost of materials (your sweat equity doesn't count) after survey by a marine surveyor. My cost for $12K of boat materials, liability ($330K), fuel spill ($500K), medical ($1K), trailer ($1548) personal effects ($500) and uninsured boater ($300K) is $219/yr. I'm not sure if they would insure a kayak, but I'm sure the cost would be less since you don't need all this coverage.
