Re: watertight hatches

I have rare earth magnets epoxied into the hatch sill and hatch, evenly spaced around the opening. They're 10mm diameter and total 16 in forward hatch and 20 aft (ie 10 in sill, 10 in hatch). Rare earth magnets are very strong and produce a firm, even pressure. I also have double straps on each hatch as insurance should something fall against hatch during a roll, although unlikely to cause problems as magnets so strong. Hatches are sealed with closed cell foam on the hatch with a scarf in the foam where the ends join. Never had any water in the compartments.
