Re: Shearwater vs Arctic

I am about 5'8" 160 and am paddling a Shearwater 16... I love the way it moves and have had in some serious wind and waves. One thing you might consider (wish I had perhaps) is cockpit size. After learning to roll in boats with tiny cockpits and very low back decks the shearwater (witch seemed tight and low when I started building) seems loose and high or deep. I can get it around but I really see the advantage of a smaller cockpit and lower back deck now. The AH offers cockpit size options, I am not sure how high/low the decks are relative to the Shearwater but at this point I would go with low (decks) and tight (cockpit)and learn to get comfortable with it that way.
