John, Think twice about an all varnished boat and the layers of varnish you will also need to sand off and then re-apply when you want to redo the hull bottom. I went with the graphite mixture on the hull so I could varnish the remainder of the boat all at once. The maintainence on the graphite every few years does not take more than an afternoon. (Just re-apply a coat). What convinced me was the saying that your 1st boat will be all varnished, but your last boat you will paint. How true.
