I'm sure the repair will be fine! Epoxied fiberglass cloth is like armour.

Hurts though doesn't it?

I hope the dent is on the bottom panel - not the side? It won't show when the kayak's on the water, and when it IS visible you'll just have to come up with an heroic tale of daring-do, rather than "I dropped it".

Or hey, blame it on Kurt - say you lent him your boat at the O'Fest for a rolling demonstration and this is the thanks you get for driving all the way up there from Florida.

Either way, you've got your first ding, now you can relax and enjoy.
