Mike,

I also suggest the Garmin brand based on past experiences. I have owned several Magellans (3) and all have had issues with water entering the electronics causing them to fail. I have owned the Garmin 76C for over a year now and have not had a single problem. This unit accepts Blue Chart maps. This gps does take a review of the manual to understand how to use all the features.

I highly recommend this brand and model. Pricing maybe a bit high but once you use one you will wonder how you ever lived without one, especially if you like venture into new territory alot.
