The attachment is MUCH simpler on the newer version, using two bolts at each attachment point above the deck. Perhaps not as aesthetically pleasing as the original but certainly simpler to build, and potentially, to maintain.

As a first time builder whose previous experience is limited to a birdhouse (that was actually put to use by some bluebirds!), I can vouch for the ease of construction of the newer version (At least, up to the point where I am of decking the hulls...). The plans and manual that came together are clear, relatively detailed. Of course, there is the CLC 'hotline', as well as this foruim (and others)to consult when scratching your head over a mystery step doesn't provide the solution. :)
