Re: boat dolly

I built a boat dolly for my kayak using large diameter plastic lawn mower wheels. My local lawn mower shop pointed out that they collect alot of broken lawn mowers (mainly from people that forget to put the oil in thier new mower)- costs less to replace than fix. These are available for parts at a good discount. I bought not only the wheels but also the stub axle brackets. I substituted the axle nuts with nylon hand wheels. The stub axle brackets are fastened to a 1x4 which has two short wood cradles to match my hull and a nylon strap to hold it to the kayak. Works great, pretty lightweight, and breaks down quickly to fit thru the hatches.
