MKII Leeboard question...
Posted by Petewp on Apr 4, 2006
Is it needed to glass the leeboard?
At the minimal Im going to glass the lower half to help waterproof the wood in the event of unseen rocky outcrop arasions and so on.
Is glassing the whole leeboard overkill? I recall one guy wiht a sailrig called Wango Tango had his leeboard snap in half on its maiden voyage. Granted this was not a CLC leeboard he used.
Still, in ocean swell and so on is a totall glassing a good idea? I should mention, the leeboard is already roughly 1/8 to 1/4" thicker than the standard plans.
What do you guys think Remember this is going to potentialy see some real ocean swell.
