Thanks for the very informative responses. I am a really big guy 6'5" and over 300 pounds, I have a really long upper body with fairly short legs. I would like to be able to tour with the Chesapeake, so I will be adding a load. When I built the Cape Charles I added 1 inch to the sides giving me more freeboard (after consulting with Chris K ) Would this be a good idea with the with the Chesapeake? I'm really not concerned about the difficulty in laying out a Kayak from plans as I have built quite a few boats. Thanks again for the help I want to do it right this time.
