Re: Passagemaker varnish

Peter/CLC,

Thanks for the insight on Bristol Finish. Your impressions certainly give me pause, especially since they are so different from the claims made on BF's website as well as test reports from Practical Sailor. But I'm still not sold on varnish either. We've used a fair bit of varnish on our cruising sailboats and I've never been impressed with the durability, nor with the ease of application or maintenance.

CLC, I noticed that the finish of the take-apart Passagemaker on display at the shop in Annapolis seems to have a deeper, richer hue than the standard version. Looks great. How was this effect created? Or was this just a difference in the shade of the plywood used? Thanks, - John
