the problem with the standard wood flour is that when it's thick enough to not run it pulls apart like playdoh. 10% cabosil helps to smooth it out. I've used hardwood flour(maple I think) and it's a dark color but super smooth to apply.

I'd still use woodflour/cabosil instead of cooking flour but if you ran out and the color match wasn't an issue go ahead, it'll be stronger than adding talc.

Ten years ago I made a Patuxent 17 according to the directions where the fillets were as wide as the drawings indicated applying two layers of 3" 9oz tape as instructed. That used up all the wood flour and I ran out part way into installing the deck,,finished it using whole wheat flour to thicken the epoxy.
