assuming you are using the 1/4" black housing. You can use the mahogany rudder block as the place the housing will come out. Mount the block closer to the end of the rudder. It eliminates the effort you go through to seal/secure the housing coming through the glassed 4mm deck. Otherwise gluiing a couple of triangular shaped wedges on the deck for the housing to go through can work. Drilling through the wood and deck allows the houseing to come out of the wood at a right angle and not a long shallow angle requiring goopy sealant or screw/anchor.
