a 100lbs of gear is a lot to paddle around. Check with folks who have paddled the boat you're looking for with the loads you expect. I would guess that the Shearwater17 might have a smidge more vertical foot room in the center of the cockpit but if the AHawk is tight I wonder if the SW17 would be significantly roomier. One of the things you might consider for improving foot room is not installing rail mounted footbraces as they intrude inward about an inch on either side. And install some other type of footbrace. You're a perfect weight for it unloaded,,adding 100lbs might be a little submarine like in waves.
