nope- it doesn't

Mine quit steaming years ago. The wet cloth supplies all the steam you need.
I also sometimes use a woodburning iron with a flat tip- like a leaf- to steam small spots, like if I'm refinishing a gunstock for a customer.
Just be patient- sometimes it takes a while. Don't get impatient and burn the wood.
