Most likely it's not your connection, as you can actually see the web page and the updates. I have occasional problems with formatting and the like that seems fairly random.

Try clearing out your browser cache (tools, options, privacy, cache--using netscape, firefox or mozilla) (tools, internet options, general, cookies--using Internet Explorer) and then they will all be new again the first time, but should clear up and be normal after that.

Another suggestion is to simply try another browser and see if you have the same issue. If you do, then you'll know it's either the website or your connection, not the browser cache.
