Thanks Mark, sort of what I was figuring myself, just guess I was over analyzing. There will be very little bending to be done at this center point and if you say the butt joint is strong enough, then that's what I'll do. It does seem simpler not to have to scarf these joints, guess maybe I was thinking scarfs would look better but I think I'll be painting hulls anyway.
