z-spar or cetol

took my boat out to lake powell for three days for its maiden voyage. was very pleased paddled 35 miles and loved it. didn't have time to varnish before the trip though. some one recomended cetol instead of varnish. I had planned on painting it with brightsides and even purchased some already but it looks so nice with the grain in the sun. so now I am thinking clear coat anyone have any experience with cetol? which is easier? which is more scratch resistant?
