because on these boats with the epoxy it shouldn't matter, but normally you DON'T countersink screws into plywood. That just cuts away the outer layer of veneer. Normally you would drill a pilot hole and squeeze the ply under the screw head as you set it, thereby countersinking with the outer veneer intact.
