that a paper pattern can come and go a great deal with changes in humidity. I did some paper patterns of a large tri once during cool weather and the second set I cut from them, on a warm rainy day- was about 1/2 inch larger than the original set.

Not saying don't use paper, just be aware that it ISN'T the same size day in and day out.
