I once saw a toggle grip that had a primary chord run through the hull, in the standard CLC manner, and a secondary line of bungee chord running back to the crossing of deck lines that ran through the same hull hole as the carry toggle chord. (deck lines criss-crossed then loop through the bow hole).

The bungee chord pulled the toggle back and it layed nicely on the deck, but was long enough so that when one picked up the toggle the bungee didn't take any weight.

Simple but slick
