James, I belong to a group called the watertribe. Each March is the Everglades Challenge which is a 300 mile expedition style small boat race from Tampa to Key Largo in Florida. Many participants use kayaks and canoes and some sleep aboard. You might want to check our site for some suggestions. I'm monitoring this forum because I'm planning to build a Mill Creek 16.5 with sail rig and plan to sleep aboard. I currently sail a Sea Pearl.
