Any space in a normal kayak you reserved for leg room sleeping means less gear carrying capacity.

You could build a rowing/sailing type kayak with outriggers for holding the oar locks. You could put a mesh trampline between outrigger and hull and have the equivalent of a cot to sleep on at night. It would be much more stable for sleeping than a kayak also. Check out EAsy Rider Kayaks to see how you could use that outrigger system. Randy
