I also have a Bosch variable (bullet proof). IMHO a very important point is dust collection. Your sander should have some kind of dust port where you can either connect a Shop Vac hose, or at least Duct Tape a length of hose to. You can usually buy a length of used vac hose from a vacuume cleaner service store and leave it attached to your sander.
Not only is it better for your health, it keeps your shop (and house) much cleaner. (I find it keeps my wife's vocabulary much cleaner as well).
Sand paper tends to last longer if dust isn't allowed to build up on the disks.
Wear a good particulate mask any way.
