Paul, I'm in Anchorage, have built a Chesapeake 18 with built in guzzler foot pump, nice foam seat, custom compass mount, rudder and/or skeg system. You can mount a feathercraft type rudder on a bracket instead of a hole in the hull thus making it lower and as strong as you like. You can use a foot bar or tow pedal type foot peg with it too. I have a new Feathercraft double size rudder on my shelf here. I have been building rudders for about $10 plus what ever foot system I want for another $10-40.
