but thigh braces are more important than hip braces for boat control/rolling,,assuming the hip braces are there and positioned at your hips. Secure hip braces won't help much if you're on a flat seat with poor thigh bracing with pressure digging into your kneecaps or knees sliding around on poorly fitting knee/thigh braces. If you think about it having a sculpted seat provides significant control before the capsize angle, hip pads in and of themselves can help but don't support your butt on a lean like a carved seat.
